INTERNSHIP OPENING: The Invertebrate Ecology program at Archbold Biological Station is seeking an intern to assist with surveys of arthropods found in Florida scrub, an endangered habitat.
The length of appointment will be for 5-6 months starting at the beginning of April, 2010. Archbold interns work 20 hours per week as research assistants and the remainder on an independent research project. Thus, the internship offers an opportunity to gain experience in every aspect of scientific research, from project choice and experimental design to oral and written presentations.
Minimum qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in biology, wildlife science, or a related field; enthusiasm for fieldwork; highly motivated and detail-oriented; ability to tolerate long hours, heat/humidity. Experience or interest in insect ecology or identification preferred but not essential.
Interns receive a weekly stipend of $100 plus room and board at the Station (shared housing in dormitory setting with several roommates; no pets).
