ORGANIZATION: Endowment allows for independence mission | Archbold Expeditions | organizational structure | Scientific Advisory Board The Station is funded principally by proceeds from an endowment overseen by Archbold Expeditions. This endowment, created by founder Richard Archbold, is managed by a Board of Trustees. On-site administration is provided by the Executive Director, the Controller, the Human Resources/Risk Management Administrator, and the Station Operations Manager, with input from a Scientific Advisory Board (see Organizational Structure).Mission Archbold Expeditions

Archbold Biological Station, 28 November 2005. Organizational Structure. The Executive Director is chief executive and operating officer of Archbold Biological Station, and reports to the Board of Trustees. The Executive Director communicates Board actions to Station staff and keeps the Board informed as to Station programs. The Executive Director establishes Station policy; hires and terminates employees; drafts and manages the annual budget of the Station; directly supervises all Research Biologists and Specialists on the staff; seeks revenue sources for programs consistent with the Station mission; and is responsible for inspirational leadership in research, conservation, and education. The Controller reports to the Executive Director, has open access to the Treasurer, provides quarterly financial reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees, and directly supervises the accounting department. The Human Resources/Risk Management Administrator reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for human resources related issues and acts as the administrator of all legal issues related to the Station. The Operations Manager reports to the Executive Director and directly supervises non research operations of the Station.
