Recycling Information
Recycling sites are available at the Station and off-site
(County Bins and Publix supermarket in Lake Placid) and Archbold
encourages everyone to participate. There are a few items that
are not collected at the Station (magazines, steel cans, foam
trays/egg cartons) and we encourage individual departments to
make arrangements to recycle these items off-site. Currently
there are NO programs to recycle glass, plastic, or office
paper. We encourage everyone to try to reuse these items when
possible. For example office paper can be used as scratch paper
(use the paper cutter in the Mailroom if you want smaller
scratch paper).
Additionally, please do not use recycling containers (blue
plastic waste buckets or white office paper boxes) for trash.
These containers are to be strictly used for recycling and will
be "labeled" appropriately.
On-site Programs at Archbold. Please feel free to
bring these items from home too. When any of the Archbold bins
are full, or getting close to full, please notify our
Receptionist in the Main Office.
(drinking cans) There are
several collection bins for aluminum cans (NO steel food cans
- these need to be taken to a County bin).
- Large volumes collection bin is located in the
basement near the Main Office (down the stairs). During
social events a collection bin (with hole in top) for
aluminum will be available in the congregating area.
- Small volumes coke machine area, kitchen, and at
picnic table locations (Dining Room, basketball courts, Lake
Annie). Please note: we are in the process of making the
smaller receptacles available.
Batteries (all but vehicle batteries)
Collection box is located in the Stations Mailroom (on the
shelving near the fax machine). The type of batteries accepted
includes (but not limited to): cell phones batteries, 9-volt,
AA-D, and UPS cell batteries.
Cardboard Only (this includes brown grocery bags and
non-waxed food boxes without cellophane, like cereal boxes)
White collection bin is located near the tennis courts
(north-end of Station parking plaza). Dry flattened
cardboard and brown grocery bags may be slid through the slots (NO
waxed cardboard, magazines, packing material). Magazines
need to be taken to a County bin and packing material may be
taken to the basement near the Main Office.). Archbold would
like to thank Highlands County for providing this bin.
Computer and Printer Hardware (Excessed Equipment)
May be taken to the Information Center and labeled as old.
(Ensure capital equipment is removed from accounting
records by providing serial numbers/description to Accounting
Manager). Please make the Systems Administrator aware that
you have dropped off old equipment. The Systems Administrator
will scavenge parts as needed and remove any batteries for
recycling.
Computer Printer Cartridges Consumed cartridges
should be given to the Receptionist in the Main Office.
- Small printer cartridges (like HP Deskjet cartridges) -
should be labeled "used" if the Receptionist is
not at her desk
- Large printer cartridges (like HP 92274-A) - should be
placed in the original box and labeled used.
Newspaper Only (will be available by March 1, 2002)
Red/green collection bin is located near the tennis courts
(north-end of Station parking plaza). Remember this is for
newspapers only (NO magazines, paper bags, cardboard,
string, tape, etc inserts which come with the paper are
okay). Archbold would like to thank Lake Placid Morning Rotary
for providing this bin.
Xerox Dry Ink/Toner Cartridges Should be placed
in the original box, labeled as used, and given to the
Receptionist when two spent cartridges are collected.
Packaging Material Please separate packing
material by type. Collection bins are in the basement near the
Main Office (down the stairs). Archbold would like to thank
Creative Printing (Sebring) for their interest in reusing our
material.
