photo album index
View, from the east, of the Main Grounds at Archbold Biological Station, and
of the mosaic of frequently-burned scrubby flatwoods and seasonal ponds,
here unseasonably
wet, in Tract 7, immediately west of the Main
Building. The winding white line, starting across the railroad
tracks from the north end of the Main Building, is Jay Trail. Jay Trail
is the main pedestrian access to the scrub for visiting day classes and for summer
day campers. In the foreground (L-R), flanking the 70,000-gallon
water tank, are cottages Lynx,
Pine, and Dicerandra.
Quercus Cottage
is the white-roofed structure at the north edge of the picture. The Main
Grounds Weather Station is
in the lower right, just east of the vehicle barn.
