The first Station records of this small, fossorial snake were of two individuals caught in pitfall traps on 8 May and 30 June 2003, in a rosemary bald in Burn Unit 40B, Tract 6, by Kyle Ashton. No voucher specimen was retained. Later, on 12 May 2007, Alessandro Catenazzi captured another individual at the same rosemary bald. He photographed the snake and released it at the site of capture. The snout-vent length was 215 mm; tail length 30 mm. Digital photos by Alessandro Catenazzi.
