4 February 2004, in saw palmetto at south end of the Rand Building, Archbold Biological Station. The upper photo demonstrates the camouflage effect of screech-owl plumage. The lower photo reveals that this is a brown-, or perhaps reddish-brown-form bird, and that the right eye is closed and barely discernable as a dark slit. Digital photos by Nancy Deyrup.
