A portion of a 1940 digital aerial photograph showing the Red Hill Estate of John Roebling (and nearby Lake Annie), soon to become the Archbold Biological Station in 1941. The white area west of the lake is the path of a recent fire (15 February 1939). The broad, N-S white line east of the Estate is the right-of-way for highway 27, not yet paved.
