Kye's
Skies at Archbold Biological Station:
|
| 1) Constellation
Tour -
the sky in 3D A naked-eye tour of the sky. Constellation identification with Greek and Roman myth story telling, the cardinal directions, and distances & colors of the brightest stars. Spaceships overhead! - satellite viewing. Lots of fun for everyone, but this may especially be the best choice for you if your group may have a hard time looking steadily into a telescope eyepiece or if attention to details would be difficult. |
| 2) Worlds
Compared Telescope viewing of planets and the Moon (as is possible). Interplanetary environments compared. High magnification views of Jupiter and Saturn through a 10" diameter telescope, with discussion of Jet Propulsion Lab's many solar system missions. The "inside information" on the Earth-observing Jason/Topex/Poseidon missions. Discoveries from the Galileo Mission to Jupiter and the in-progress Cassini Mission to Saturn. |
| 3) Welcome to the Milky
Way!
Binocular and telescope viewing of the Milky Way Galaxy and its neighbors. Supernova remnants, stellar nurseries, galactic artifacts, distant island "universes." This is the one for your group if they can appreciate thinking about what they are seeing as much as actually seeing it. Take a trip with me, tens of millions of years into the past! |
