Red Hill Restoration and Enhancement
All areas of Strophanthus, rosary pea, lantana, and beal plant were mowed with a Brown Tree Cutter, followed by herbicide treatment (treatment plots).

Following mowing, all exotic plants were treated with herbicide (Garlon 4 - 1%, 5%, or 10% solution mixed with JBL oil)

Selected areas were mowed and burned after approximately 45 days to reduce debris and create open habitat for gopher tortoises and replanting of native plants. In the summer of 2003, a prescribed burn is planned for the areas treated with herbicide.

Lantana, Strophanthus, and natal grass covering part of an active gopher burrow. In areas where invasive plants covered gopher tortoise burrows, the plants were removed by hand using chainsaw and machete.
