Welcome to Discovering Florida Scrub, a curriculum designed to give teachers and students of grades 3-5 a deeper understanding of science and a greater appreciation of the Florida scrub. Florida Scrub is a unique ecosystem with many extraordinary species and features that make it a dynamic system in which to explore science.

This curriculum:
  • Includes indoor and outdoor activities for teacher and students, background information and instructions, student and classroom data sheets, and questions for student evaluation.
  • Incorporates hands-on and inquiry-based approaches to learning and encourages the use of collaborative learning.
  • Promotes positive attitudes towards native ecosystems.
  • Enables teachers to meet science, math, language arts, and social studies state and national requirements by cross-referencing with Sunshine State Standards.
