General Day Visitor Fee

 

There is currently no cost to general public day visitors but we suggest a donation of $5 per person or $10 for a family. (link to donation page)

STATION USE FEE

This is a per person daily use fee

$ 8.00/day

Discounts do not apply

This fee is for visitors and researchers/scientists using lab facilities and/or overnight accommodations.

II.  MEETING/CONFERENCE

Fee of $50 may be accessed in addition to room charges if Archbold or MEARC staff is required to be on premises during non-business/weekend hours.)

GIS Laboratory

One seat in this lab with full access to GIS facilities. Staff conducting GIS work for a researcher requires negotiated payment.

III.  LODGING

Archbold Biological Station staff will work to the best of its ability to meet the needs of groups and individuals.

Larger groups will require additional off-site housing, (local hotels, Lake Placid Conference Center, etc.)

We can set up for one large invoice, or for individuals to pay separately.

           A.  Adrian Archbold Lodge

 

 

The Adrian Archbold Lodge can accommodate up to 41 people within 14 bedrooms, if fully occupied at 3 persons per room (one single twin bed and 1 set of regular bunk twin beds).

The Lodge has 4 multi-user bathrooms. There is also one private bathroom.

All beds include sheet, blanket, pillow with case, and towels.

All bedrooms can access WiFi.

$8.00 Station Fee is assessed per person per night for all guests, whether paying a bed rate or room rate. No discount on Station Fee.

 

This lodging is for groups or individuals. A group is defined as 8 or more. Group rates for mixed #s room occupancy may vary – contact Facilities Coordinator. A deposit may be required.

For multi-day events, large groups are required to book at least 70% of their attendees in the Lodge in order to hold functions in the Learning Center.

 

Single Occupancy

$60.00/night plus Station Fee

20% discount on stays over 7 nights

Double Occupancy

$30.00 plus Station Fee/bed/ night

20% discount on stays over 7 nights

Triple Occupancy

$75.00/night, or $25/person/night, plus Station Fee

20% discount on stays over 7 nights

        B. Research Center Cottages

 

 

Cottages are generally reserved for visiting researchers and long-stay visitors, and families, and only used for groups when the Lodge is fully occupied.

All cottage bedrooms are supplied with linens, pillows, towels, blankets (all the basics for sleeping, showering).

All cottages (except Jay and Red Hill) can access WiFi.

 

We can currently accommodate up to 50 people in cottages, although these are often booked well in advance.

IV.  Meals

   

For Lodge and Cottage Guests:

Weekday Meals – The kitchen staff at Archbold will try to accommodate dietary restrictions with advance notice.

Daily meal options include meat and non-meat (vegetarian) options.

Daily menus are available in the Main Office Mail Room at the south end of the Research building. Menus must be turned in by 10:00 a.m. each day.

Meals are available for purchase to all guests of the Station.

Meals are normally served in the Dining Room, however for larger groups, meals are catered and served at the Learning Center.

No evening and weekend meals.

NOTE: Cooking facilities are not available for Adrian Archbold Lodge guests. Meals for lodge guests will be catered or brought from the dining room.

Discounts do not apply to meals ever.

 

 

 

 

 

 

NOTE TO COTTAGE GUESTS: Only cottages are fully equipped for cooking – stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, pots/pans, plates, glasses, utensils, etc. Guests may bring their own food and prepare their own meals. There is a grocery within 6 miles of the Station.

NOTE TO LODGE GUESTS: Cooking facilities are not available in the Adrian Archbold Lodge. The Dining Room at the Research Center is open to Lodge guests for breakfast and or lunch.

V.  Groups/Classes:

For groups and classes staying multiple days, catered meal service is available for all meals at the Adrian Archbold Lodge and Frances Archbold Hufty Learning Center. Contact Facilities Coordinator for details.

 

No evening and weekend meals except by special advanced arrangement only.

Sunday meals will be pre-made and groups will re-heat and self-serve, and clean up.

Dinner - Served 6:00p. (available for groups or classes of 8 or more)

Special event meals are available for larger groups for an additional costs, i.e. barbecues, etc. (please inquire first)

Group sizes up to 130 people inside; can accommodate more if outside.

Beer, wine and appetizers are available by special arrangements only or you may supply your own.

VI.  Laundry

Archbold Biological Station has a laundry room available to all guests for washing and drying personal items.

If you are visiting the Station for over 7 days, you may ask for fresh linens.

 

In order to reduce costs and energy, we have adopted a policy to minimize laundry by asking guests to get multiple uses of towels by hanging them to dry after each use.
