Yearly Burn Schedule

Each year a map of potential prescribed burns is created. The map is based on the fire return interval specified by the Fire Management Plan, plus guidance from staff about units to burn, or avoid burning, based on present or future research projects in individual units. Researchers designing a project must first discuss the needs for fire management with the Land Manager before setting up research plots in the field.
