On Tuesdays at 9:30AM (EDT), Archbold’s Director of Education, Dustin Angell takes his phone and selfie-stick into the outdoors to live-stream on Zoom and Facebook Live. In this series, Dustin visits locations from Archbold’s Summer Ecology Camp. These events are intended for children and the general public.
Join Dustin for a walk in the scrub. Attendees will learn how to identify the Florida scrub habitat and learn about the ecosystem processes that shape the adaptations of its resident plants and animals
The Florida scrub is dry and sandy, yet also dotted by many seasonal ponds. Each summer rainy season fills hundreds of ponds at Archbold. Join Dustin as he visits one of these ponds to discuss the ecosystem and search for life.
Join Dustin for a trip to Buck Island Ranch, Archbold's 10,500 acre cattle ranch and research station. Attendees will learn about the history of Florida ranching and its current role in water conservation and the protection of endangered species.
For almost thirty years, Lake Annie has been a favorite destination for Archbold's summer campers. Join Dustin on a visit to the lake to learn about its wildlife and what Archbold's measurements are teaching scientists about the Lake Wales Ridge during the last ice age.
