Archbold Biological Station (in-person event)

Archbold Biological Station Campus was originally built by the Roebling family. Margaret and John Roebling II were important community members of Highlands County during the 1920’s and 30’s including being instrumental in the creation of Highlands Hammock State Park. Join Joe Gentili, Archbold Librarian and Archivist and explore the story of the Roebling's, their history and their impact on Highlands county. We will discuss four generations of Roebling's, from the emigration of John Roebling I in the 1830's, to Colonel Washinton Roebling and his wife Emily who are responsible for the Brooklyn Bridge, through Donald Roebling's role in Richard Archbold's arrival in Florida in 1941. Please join us as we discuss the legacy of these six Roebling family members throughout America and in Highlands County.
