Ecology Summer Camp (2023)

Session 3, Ages 7-9

Mon. 06/19/23; 1:00 pm - Fri. 06/23/23; 7:00 pm

Archbold Biological Station, Frances Archbold Hufty Learning Center

Young scientists and explorers ages 7-12 are invited to join us for a week of science, nature, and fun in Florida’s heartland. Campers hike through beautiful and rare habitats, swim in a sinkhole lake, meet scientists, create art, and make new friends.

Sponsorships for financial need: Thanks to donations from our friends and supporters, we offer sponsorships for families with economic need. Camp fees are waived for children who qualify for sponsorships. Sponsorship families provide their own transportation and lunch. Apply using the registration link at the top of the page.

Teenage Volunteers: Teens that love science and nature, and are looking for leadership experience, are encouraged to apply for our Team Leader positions. Team Leaders work a one week camp session and earn 35+ hours helping run camp activities and acting as role models for our campers. Apply here

Meet Scientists

Archbold researchers visit camp throughout the week, working directly with the campers and engaging them in Archbold’s research.

Explore Habitats

The Headwaters of the Florida Everglades is an area rich with beautiful lands and waters. Campers visit a seasonal pond, a pristine sinkhole lake, pastureland, and the endangered Florida scrub.

Learn Science with Lessons and Games

Campers build their knowledge of Florida ecology through a mix of activity types, including scavenger hunts, dip netting, wildlife camera deployment, journaling in their science notebooks, and kinesthetic learning games.
