Seminars

All seminars are on Thursdays at 3:30pm unless noted otherwise.

Refreshments will be served after Scientific and Research seminars but not intern seminars.

There are 3 categories of seminars:

  • Scientific Seminar Series are presented by distinguished special speakers and leaders in the fields of biology and related sciences discussing their most recent research projects or papers.
  • Research Seminars are presented by recent Ph.D. or Post-Doc-level students discussing research or theses papers.
  • Intern Seminars are presented by current interns involved in Archbold programs discussing independent research projects.

Special Events

Below are the special events that are open to the public. Recommended donation for Special Events: $5 per adult, $1 per child. Events start at time posted.

Types of special events at Archbold Biological Station:

  • Guided Tour Series. Explore our 7 (short distance) trails at an upcoming guided, walking tour. Public welcome. Gather at the Frances Archbold Hufty Learning Center.
  • Educational Presentations. Guest lecturer discussing general research, education, and conservation topics.
  • Education Events. Planned activities for adults and children i.e. Family Nature Day
  • Conservation Events. Planned activities is association with recognized conservation efforts, i.e. National Public Lands Day, Earth Day, etc.
  • Art Events. Planned programs and/or activities associated with arts, culture and science

Note: Prior to or after an event, the public is welcome to use our picnic area adjacent to the Learning Center (bring your own picnic lunch) and enjoy the sights and sounds of the scrub with family and friends. Outdoor attire of closed-toed shoes and hat are suggested. Other items including water, sunscreen, insect repellent, camera, and binoculars are recommended.
