Land Management Associate & Headwaters Ecosystem Management Team Leader

Elysia Dytrych is a land management associate at Archbold Biological Station in Venus, Florida. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation as well as a graduate certificate in Geospatial Analysis, both from the University of Florida. Elysia has been performing land management in the scrub habitats of the Lake Wales Ridge since 2015 and has held her Certified Florida Burn Manager status since 2018. Elysia facilitates the application of prescribed fire on the landscape through planning and implementing prescribed fires and also serves as a crew member for land managers within the Avon Park Sentinel Landscape. When not burning, Elysia is treating invasive plants like Old World Climbing Fern (Lygodium microphyllum), applying mechanical treatments to vegetation to support habitat management and restoration, and surveying for rare flora & fauna that can only be found on the Lake Wales Ridge.
