Archbold-UF LTAR Story Map

A new story map exploring the value and impact of LTAR in two sensitive watersheds, the Headwaters of the Everglades and Peace River Valley.

The Archbold Biological Station-University of Florida (ABS-UF) LTAR site lies in the great southeastern grasslands, one of the biologically richest grassland regions in the world. The ABS-UF LTAR is composed of three properties at Archbold Biological Station, Archbold's Buck Island Ranch, and University of Florida Range Cattle Research and Education Center. The ABS-UF LTAR lies in the heart of the beef cattle production in Florida with nearly 80% of the state cow-calf systems found within 150-mile radius of this LTAR site. South-central Florida ranchlands represent subtropical humid grazing lands in North America and globally. USDA LTAR funds critical science to support the long-term viability of working lands and food production. To address the persistent and emerging challenges facing Florida and American agriculture, ABS-UF LTAR convenes a group of stakeholders to drive science, research priorities, and other solutions that are relevant, useful, and can be immediately applied.
